This classic chair with a bent detail placed in the backrest is, due to a large portion of manual work, one of the most technically demanding products in our portfolio. The lines of this chair stand out even more in a version with armrests.

Michael Thonet (1796-1871), born in Germany, was a designer specialising in ‘bentwood'. Thonet and his sons set up a bentwood furniture factory in Bystřice pod Hostýnem in 1861.  In 1876, Chair No. 18 - one of the first models which was produced here and is still a part of our portfolio today.
